Document Summary

Slices of the brain: horizontal, horizontal slice, also called: axial or transverse, sagittal, cut between the eyes, coronal, cut parallel to front of face, brain development, 6 divisions of cns in embryo. Forebrain: telencephalon, diencephalon, midbrain, mesencephalon, hindbrain, metencephalon, medulla. Starts as fluid-filled neural tube: 3 enlargements become hindbrain, midbrain, forebrain, neural tube become spine, 2 months in subdivisions form. Fluid filled chamber becomes ventricle: brain organization, hindbrain, cerebellum, pons, medulla oblongata, midbrain. Superior and inferior colliculi: forebrain, cerebellum, thalamus, hypothalamus, mammillary bodies, major gyri, frontal lobe. Separates frontal and parietal lobes: precentral gyrus, postcentral gyrus, parietal lobe.
