Document Summary

Recognize: to perceive something as previously known, it is familiar. Ltm: memory for things that do not currently occupy your attention, they must be recalled or recognized. Permanent memories require: stm -> consolidated -> ltm. Get it from cortisol and adrenaline (in response to stress or general arousal, adrenaline is from the adrenal medulla and cortisol is from the adrenal cortex which results in glycogen which turns into glucose) A little bit of adrenaline is good for remembering things, but too much is bad. Maybe a bit of nervousness means we careee. (its easier to recall the whole story rather than a bunch of unrelated facts) Don"t commit to memory but rather commit to understanding . Stop new memories from being formed, which would otherwise interfere with the memory consolidating of items you just learned. Drink a beer after studying, literally recommended by teacher. Explicit : memory for events or facts (sometimes called semantic)
