Best evidence that we have concepts is that we have language to express our thoughts. Language differs from one to the next; it is an arbitrary stream of sound/gesture that we interpret to mean something. Meaning is about retrieving thoughts from another person"s head. How are they connected to the mental representations that they are about: we can find out how thoughts are constructed by observing their development in children.
