HILD 2A-B-C Lecture Notes - Lecture 8: British Movement, Freedman, Mary Rowlandson
Document Summary
Mary rowlandson, 1st 2nd remove & 20th remove . Captured puritan by native americans and held for 11 weeks before being ransomed (therefore they didn"t kill her) The native americans are barbarous because they plundered their town, slaughtered their livestock, separated families, and celebrated afterwards. They captured women and children but left the men behind. The indians laugh when the mother and her child fall off of the horse rather than helping them. They make them sit out in the cold snow, when they"re clearly sick with a violent fever. There"s no other christian in sight to help her and guide her, she"s by herself. Somehow god is there to provide her with strength to see the next day. Separated from her sister and daughter, their masters wouldn"t even let them see each other. God would eventually punish those that did him wrong because he has the power to affect people in certain ways.
