Many signed in the midst of labor. If you don"t sign, we can"t perform the c-section to save you and your baby. Misconception that the tubes can be untied when in reality the tubes are cut and the procedure cannot be reverse. Hegemonic belief that poor people were having too many babies. Asserts that no woman was coerced into sterilization. Co-workers of doctor quilligan claim that he did not know what was going on and that they did not know what they were doing. Contradicts with accounts of individuals voiced their concern to him. Contradictions between the motives or agenda behind these acts of sterilization. No explanation on the side of the medical department as to why they pushed for sterilization.
