Civil rights activist efforts throughout the us south. Police refused to grant a permit for a protests against racial discrimination in downtown businesses. Mlk was jailed as a result of protesting without a permit. They support the cause, but their methods of helping the cause are bad. Intended audience: mlk, his followers, and his critics. Attempting to make mlk appear unreasonable with his actions. Contradiction: african americans are nonviolent but are described as violent regardless. The proper way of going through a long a justice system is pointless since the justice system is in the favor of the hegemony. Mlk"s protest was in reality actually very well timed, he had many schedule adjustments already. Mlk is not an outsider, he was invited to by the people of. Previous attempts to negotiate were rejected and this protest is one of the steps to reach negotiation.
