Document Summary

All native americans had sovereignty before, seminoles especially. No money in reservation despite having sovereignty doesn"t mean much -- still economically dependent on others. Us strongly values individualism (many have issues with group rights) Casinos don"t pay taxes like corporations do. Annoys people that indians are treated differently under the law than other people. Native americans would be sent to boarding schools to learn christian values, English language, etc -- would not be allowed to learn/practice own culture. Unequal investment in schools, but equal expectation to succeed in standardization tests. Tribe did very well economically, sovereignty attacked. Should not be an anomaly that indian tribe is wealthy. Should not be targeting indian tribes because they are not very poor.
