Document Summary

The design argument: why does the universe and many of the things contained in it appear designed, a posteriori argument. Support for premise 1: even scientists antithetical to theism admit that things in nature appear designed. Paley"s argument vs analogical arguent analogical: the universe is being compared to a machine to infer an intelligent being paley: looking for a sign and recognizing that its features indicate a designer so therefore there was a designer. Tuesday, august 18 2014 don"t have to list all 7 criteria of analogical argument on midterm but do have to use one in explanation. Dawrinism stuff look online cause i didnt take notes yesterday. O counts in favor of design over chance. Two-stage argument: argument against the atheistic single-universe hypothesis there is only one universe, and it is ultimately an inexplicable, brute fact that the universe exists and is fine-tuned for life.
