Non-western music enters way easier into the western music thanks to the internet. Primarily east asian countries started to import korean dramas. K-pop spreads out, not just in korea, but to other asian countries. East asia, south east asia, south america, europe, and eventually north america. Most powerful consumers are those in the late 20s and early 30s, who were teens when idols first debuted. Genre is not based on the music itself. If it is performed by idols, it is considered idol music and k-pop. Should be seen to the customer as it is real. K-pop stars are supposed to have physical and emotional closeness with audiences. Weekly music programs in korea to top the charts. Fan clubs have to go their to support their idols through fan chants.
