Document Summary

Part 2: the shaping of east and west in central eurasia. Ankhesenamun"s (tut"s widow) letter to the hittite king suppiluliumas. Asking for one of his sons to marry, since she had no son/heir. She was afraid of her political situation (vulnerability) Odd because hittites and egyptians almost constantly fought. Hittite king sent son to egypt, but son never made it (murder or plague?) Period of advanced international relations/balance of power. Mycenaean greece, arzawa, new kingdom egypt, etc. Don"t know that minos ever even existed. Ruler? (inferred due to uniformity of palatial complexes) Depictions of horse-drawn chariots seen in 1450 artwork and script. Script shift from linear a to linear b (horse-drawn chariot introduced into script) Indo-european (first to make it to greek peninsula) Most are just lists of goods/people rather than historical events. Use of later greek texts (like iliad) to understand history of mycenaean people.
