The area began to dry out around 10,000bce. Nile river valley became highly populated in early 3300bce. Nubians inhabit the land just south of egypt. Nile flooded regularly and was easily controlled. Nile valley is more suitable for agriculture than mesopotamia. Very well suited to transportation both up and down the river. A more positive picture of life and afterlife: based on the fact that the nile made life easier than mesopotamia with tigris and euphrates. Resulting focus on nile river and tendency towards isolationism. Increasingly complex chiefdoms: there is a chief figure among them, not too sizable. Series of agricultural villages and trading center all along the nile. Not too many large cities as compared with mesopotamia. Outside trade develops around the same time as the chiefdoms with mesopotamia and the levant.
