Wilkie criticized fdr for failure to control air pollution during the 1940 presidential election. Smoke-filled factories that were being celebrated for creating jobs were adversely affecting the air quality and the health of the workers and the residents living near factories. In 1952, in london, smoke filled smog filled the air. Coal-fired power plants were being built in the city of london which were releasing immense amounts of smoke. Killer smog event killed as many as 15,000 people. At the time, not being portrayed as a destructive event until years later when health report with the number of fatalities was published. 2 years ago, the senate rejected an amendment saying human activity contributes to climate change. When a group is presented with an opportunity that maximized joint interests, they will act as a group and satisfy those interests. Mancur olson: discredited group theory, said collective action was natural.
