The war on cancer started in 1971 under the nixon administration. The number of new cases of a disease occurring in a given population over a certain period of time. For example, lung and bronchus cancer increased greatly in the 70s-90s because of the increase of popularity of tobacco in the 50s. Decline in cancer doesn"t mean we know how to cure it, it means that the incidence that therefore leads to cancer has decreased. The first description of cancer was about 4,500 years ago. Cancer is more abundant now than it was in the past, it was quite rare then. Cancer is strongly age-dependant, it is thought to be more prevalent now because people are living longer now than in the past. Best left untreated, since patients live longer that way. Onkos (mass or burden) - for malignant tumors. The four humors (imbalance would cause illness) Phlegm - lead to the common cold or tb.
