Among the issues we will be exploring from a social psychological perspective are: Gender is variable according to culture, historical moment, and other significant social and economic factors. Gender refers to the social, psychological, and cultural definitions (or displays) of woman/feminine and man/masculine. Sex refers to the biological characteristics that distinguish female from male (i. e chromosome, hormonal mix, genital) Human sexuality refers to people"s sexual interest in and attraction to others, as well as their capacity to have erotic experiences and responses. People"s sexual orientation is their emotion and sexual attraction to particular sexes or genders, which often shapes their sexuality. Biological female = feminine woman = heterosexual. Biological female = masculine woman = heterosexual. Infants are born with what have been described as ambiguous genitals (i. e. , genitals that are not clearly male or female).
