Part of spain was arabic and islamic because of the moors. Conquered portions of spain for 800 years and mixed with the spaniards. Influenced architecture, language, every spanish word that begins with al comes from the moors. In 1492, the moors are expelled and kicked out of spain. Some moved to america, mexico, or new mexico. Jews who didn"t leave spain when they were kicked out. Appeared as catholics but secretly practiced their religion.
