Michelangelo, creation of adam and eve, 1511-12: most well known image from italian renaissance, right before climax of story, adam not been given spark of life from god yet, adam is reposed/relaxed, moment of creation, flat plaster. Illusionistic space- gives sense of big architectural elements in ceiling but actually just paint. Michelangelo, last judgement, sistine chapel, 1534-41: the saved brought up into heaven; joining christ, mary clinging to jesus; her body shapes jesus".
