Globalization: contemporary widening scale of cross-cultural interactions owin to rapid movement of money, people, goods, images. & ideas within nations & across national boundaries. Diffusionists: cultural characteristics result from either internal historical dynamism or spread of cultural attributes from one society to another. Migrants: leave homes to work for a time in other regions or countries. Immigrants: leave their countries w/no expectation of ever returning. Refugees: migrate bc of political oppression or war usually w/legal permission to stay. Exiles: expelled by authorities of their home countries. World systems theory: theoretical lens for understanding global inequality.
