The presence of a given kind of behavior in an individual can be explained as the result of some trait that motivates him to engage in that behavior. Provides a different take on the behavior of users and nonusers. Social experiences cause a person to acquire a meaning of that behavior, which make the action desirable. Motivation is built up by learning and engaging in it. Less concerned about the traits that motivate a person, but the changes in a person"s perceptions about it and experience it provides for him. This sequences of changes in attitude and perception has cause people to use marijuana for pleasure. Weed is used for pleasure, for a casual kind of behavior.
