Outside of visable light region of the electromagnetic spectrum. Blindfolded snake can still see with thermal vision because of infrared receptors. Can produce infrared heat in its tail it will flood its tail with blood. One does not heat up its tail if it is facing snakes with no heat vision, but does heat up its tail if the snake does have infrared vision somehow the snake knows. Robot squirrel only causes rattlesnake to become defensive if its tail is heated. Absent in fruit bats (don"t feed on blood) Infrared sensors detect blood close to skin of prey. Affects mate choice in zebra finches, starlings and blue tits. Male zebra finch with ultraviolet is preferred by females, but if uv is filtered out he is much less preferred. Uv light creates a highly reflective crown, which females prefer.
