Illogical thinking or language: associative loosening, tangential replies, poverty of speech, derailment, disorganized behavior, behavior is highly variable and can range from a catatonic stupor to excitement, waxy flexibility, deterioration of social behavior. Lack of spontaneous speech: will not respond, become nonresponsive and almost catatonic, affective flattening, blunted affect, robotic, don"t show a lot of emotional expression. Schizophrenic behaviors (hallucinating) is reinforcing because you get attention by having these symptoms: very little research support for this, cognitive, biologically based but maintained by faulty interpretations and a misunderstanding of symptoms. Still very little support--most people believe it is biologically determined: but if your environment didn"t matter, we would only teach this in medical. Impact of adverse social or environmental conditions: diathesis stress model, predisposition, but triggered by the environment, rare that anyone would develop schizophrenia in response to a stressful event, poverty, low socioeconomic status, family interactions and schizophrenia.
