Document Summary

If there is no external forces on an object, then that object will move on with a constant state of motion (or a constant velocity) Inertia - to stay in motion until acted upon by an external force. If there are equal forces on an object so that that the net force is balanced, then the object with undergo a constant state of motion and the acceleration will remain at 0. You take the net force and divide it by the mass of the object, you get the acceleration. F net / m = a or f net = ma. The force of this object will be in the positive direction (to the right) since one of the forces is larger than the other. Whenever one object exerts a force on a second object, the second object exerts an equal and opposite force back on the first. We have two objects in this law instead of one.
