NURS 3664 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: Aureus, Hypotension, Pericardial Window
Document Summary
Types: valvular repair or replacement, aneurysm repair. Pericarditis: swelling and irritation of the pericardium, sharp chest pain law down more painful then sitting up and forward, dresslers syndrome. When sitting up and lean forward. Pericardial effusion: can be associated with pericarditis or not, accumulation of fluid in the pericardial space. Impact co: cannot expand in diastole, not as much force in systole, muffled heart sounds listening through sack of fluids, treatment: pericardiocentesis. Pericardial effusion big enough to cause compression of heart (fluid accumulation within the pericardium) Make whole in layer so fluid cannot accumulate. Atrial remodeling due to uncontrolled htn, cad, valve dx, pulm dx, sleep apnea, obesity. Top of heart has constant electrical activity, bottom of heart is trying to keep up. Persistent go in and out of it. Permanent does not respond to medical treatment. Uo r/t atrial (cid:374)atureti(cid:272) hor(cid:373)o(cid:374)e release. Rx w/ digoxin or beta blocker, ca++ channel blocker (metoprolol) Arterial occlusion, thrombotic stroke (stasis of blood)
