In a kiowa story, sayn-day lived in a dark place with no people or animals, until animals came from the cottonwood tree and populated the area. In a kwa-kiulth story the world rst emerged with a great ood, and the sea monster became the rst man to live on the land. Their world was dark and unfurnished, until raven, a bird gave the world light and beauty.
