Discussion of the national divorce rate for first marriages. Why do we hold on to a negative perception of american families? it is common among people to says that 1 in 2 marriages end in divorce not true. Divorce shouldn"t be used in whether a marriage is successful or not, people in marriages are aren"t necessarily successful succession of trajectory altering event, majority will remarry, begins a process of reorganization that has many possible outcomes. Seventy-five percent of divorced women and 80% of divorced men remarry. Please note that these rates change dramatically for women as the age the older a woman is when she becomes single, the greater the likelihood that she will remain single. Note: what we are really focusing on is dissolution and disruption not divorce (not legal issues, the emotional issues) Relationship distress (three primary indicators that make a person go into a distressed state where they are thinking they should leave)
