Sweet and salty foods are the first food babies are attracted to, and old people keep those two tastes the longest. Old people use a lot of salt and sugar so they can taste what they eat. Integrity ability to accept the facts of one"s life and face death without great fear. Despair overwhelming feelings of regret, incompetence, disappointment with one"s life. Central process: introspection: review of one"s life. Talk to others, interpersonal, tell people about what you experienced during your life. Meta message that we communicate to an elderly person when we sit and listen patiently is that they are valuable and that they matter, it helps them to feel like their life has had a meaning. Tension and pressure revolves around whether or not your life has had meaning. Generativity builds up to this, because if you were successful then you are more likely to feel integrity later. Generativity is reflected in actions affecting people you care about.
