Norms- certain expectations that help shape our experience, limit and direct behavior, help make behavior predictable. Ex. every thursday night you go to pizza. Longer the relationship most specified the norms. Frequency with which norms are established is linked to the disruptive power each person has over the other power one person has to keep the other from doing what he/she wants to do. Common disagreements between 2 people normative statements reduce the level and frequency of the conflict.
