Document Summary

The adaptive immune system has a series of structures that enable it to respond, unique physiology. Those unique physiologies is cell-mediated response (which is promoted/activated) and humoral response. Cell is considered a mature t or b cell if it has learned to distinguish self from nonself. (called immunocompetence). B and t cells begin in the bone marrow. B cell gains immunocompetence (maturity) in the bone marrow. T cells mature in the thymus (lymph nodes) gland and in the spleen. When a b cell is activated, it learns what antigen to go after once it"s released. Capable of phagocytosis, meaning they"re capable of engulfing other things. All nucleated cells in our body has a class 1 mhc. Only certain cell lines in our body have a class 2 mch. One of those cell lines is the b-cell. B cells encountering antigens and then engulfing them.
