Pas are a key part of the patient-centered healthcare team, they are licensed to practice medicine, prescribe medication, treat chronic illnesses and assist in surgery. Pas have graduate degrees with a minimum of 2,000 hours of clinical rotations in outpatient clinics and hospitals, after a year of classroom study. The physician has to be on site for a pa to see patients. Patients won"t be happy unless they see a real doctor". 93% of patients who saw a pa agreed that they are trusted healthcare providers. No state requires a physician to on site. 100% of the time, pas are seeing patients. Pas can not see new patients or perform consultations. Pas can see patients in all settings without a physician present. Pas are official to enhancing access to care in rural and underserved areas. Pa physician teams deliver high quality care. Pas wear shorter white coats than physicians.
