Is a sexual relationship, romantic friendship, or passionate attachment between two people without the attached person"s significant other knowing. 25-50% of men are going to have an affair. 15-50% of females are going to have an affair. Conflict avoider: avoid conflicts through attempts to please or sacrificial behavior. Differences are put aside and resentment: infidelity maybe have happened to shake things up, person who has an affair tends to be overly responsible. The person who did it: spouse tends to be obsessive about the affair. Intimacy avoider: highly conflicted marriages, fear of being emotionally vulnerable, unresolved issues and resentment build up, high level of triangulation, both spouses are to be involved in affairs. Sexual addiction: many sexual affairs over time, played out in public, infidel flaunts the affairs and consider themselves being above the rules. Infidel= person who is having the affair: source tends to overlook the infidelities, spouse is concerned with the look of the world.
