Document Summary

Circulatory system: heart, blood vessels, blood. Transport: oxygen, co2, nutrients, waste, hormones. Protection: inflammation, limit spread of infection. Plasma: matrix of blood: clear, light yellow fluid, formed elements. 7 formed elements: erythrocytes (rbcs, platelets: fragments, leukocytes (wbcs) Wbcs and platelets: 1% of total volume. Plasma: rest of volume, blood product mix. H20, protein, nutrients, electrolytes, nitrogenous wastes, hormones, gases. Liquid portion of blood: serum (clotting factors removed, 3 categories of plasma protien, albumin (produced in liver): osmolarity. 2)globulins (produced in plasma cells): antibodies: fibrinogen (produced in liver): form blood clots, nitrogenous compounds. Removed by kidneys: nutrients, dissolved o2, co2, and nitrogen, electrolytes. Plasma 2 times more viscous than water. Molarity of dissolved particles that can"t pass through vessel wall: too high osmolarity = high blood pressure, too low osmolarity = low blood pressure. Hemopoietic tissues: produce blood: yolk sac produces blood cells for 1st blood cells.
