Adding to word salad of loosely associated words. Avolition (less motivation, initiative, focus on tasks) Onset: typically at end of adolescence and in early adulthood, later for women than men. Prevalence: nearly 1% of pop, slightly more men than women. Acute/reactive: in reaction to stress, more positive symptoms such as hallucinations. Recovery is likely bc medication works better in reducing positive symptoms. Chronic/process: develops slowly, w more negative symptoms such as flat affect and social withdrawal.
