Document Summary
Pre lab carbon footprint assignment due on lab. Reading quiz on chapter 49 due 10 am wednesday. Read ecosystem on the brink article and complete ecosystem article questions due 10 am friday. Course eval: bonus points by june 4. Any assemblage of populations living in a prescribed area or habitat at a given time. Ex: invertebrate community in water-filled hole in tree. Ex: community of microbes in deer gut. Relative abundance (evenness): the proportion each species represents of all individuals in the community. The distribution of individuals cross species (evenness) Relative abundance is higher when the distribution of each species are equal (well distributed across all) To calculate species diversity, scientists take index. Most diverse species: has high richness and high evenness. Intraspecific interactions: between members of the same species. Interspecific interactions: between members of the different species. Commensalism: one of the species benefits, the other is neutral.
