Imperialism: the process by which one states, with superior military strength and more advanced technology, imposes its control over the land, resources, and population of a less developed nation . Imperialism has been going on since the 15th century. Earlier justifications aside from enriching the crown were justified by religion (for ex we must christianize the world) History of imperialism: 16th to 19th century. Economic: european countries which are experiencing a slowdown in domestic economy are going to seek out a place for new investments which leads to new tariffs, crippling export market within europe. Idea is they need a new place to sell their goods and they also want raw goods to help drive the economic systems. Lead to lennon writing about imperialism saying that capitalism will outstrip itself within europe continent and it will seek markets elsewhere.
