The long boom : high levels of employment, high consumer demand, cansian approach to the economy (result of state investing in planning in the economy along side a robust economy) Western berlin becomes a success story: unemployment basically at 0% 1960s living standards risen far above any pre-war standards. Markers of cultural change: leisure time can consume culture. The center of this new culture was united states, rock and roll, etc. now many people could be exposed to this culture. Mass consumption of culture helped blurr class status. Europe integration: early formations of european union through tarrifs and common market. Started by 6 european countries to lower tarrifs reduce currency speculations. Welfare state: role to be played by government to provide for its citizens: free health care will appear in britain under labor party.
