At the midpoint of the 20th century we see the emergence of the welfare state. Great powers would undertake one final spree of imperialist expansion. Methods of warfare were revolutionized by industrialization and developments in technology. There had been no change in agriculture since neolithic so it was revolutionary to change agriculture when you switched from nomadic to agriculture.
