Document Summary
We don"t know where our consciousness might be. Consciousness has to be in the brain. We think our consciousness has a different quality. Is the mind formed by synaptic connections in our brain. He believes he is real because his consciousness asks if he is real. Descartes" method: to never accept anything as true unless it is so clear and distinct as to exclude all ground of doubt . To divide every problem into smallest parts. To proceed from simplest to most complex. To enumerate all aspects of a problem; omit nothing. All knowledge from senses may be illusory. My mind is therefore real and it"s perception of things is also real. Since i am imperfect and yet can conceive of a perfect being, god must exist and has granted me reason to determine truth. God gave us reason for this purpose. God does not deceive me; therefore my perception of material things must be correct.
