Document Summary

Once gravity shapes to sphere, we call it a dwarf planet, but still part of the kuiper. A high inclination to the ecliptic (sun and earth): the long period asteroids are highly tilted! It is surrounding our solar system, too far away, but they come in sometimes: the long period comets. It is weakly bound to the sun by gravity. Earth is way smaller than the sun, so we need ways to identify these small planets. Here the intensity also increases as t increases. F is proportional to t4: gravity, use the newton"s t(cid:28667)(cid:28668)r(cid:28663) l(cid:28660)w. it r(cid:28664)qu(cid:28668)r(cid:28664)s (cid:28661)ot(cid:28667) t(cid:28667)(cid:28664) pl(cid:28660)n(cid:28664)t (cid:28660)n(cid:28663) t(cid:28667)(cid:28664) sun or(cid:28661)(cid:28668)t. We look for the velocity caused by such orbit through the doppler effect: away is red shift, toward is blue shift. (radial velocity method) Eg. positive: towards us; negative: away from us.
