Laos secret war : us bombs 1964 to 1972 (gordon 2011: 4) Pathet lao took over laos, ~300,000 people escaped by crossing the mekong river. More than 2mil bombs dropped on laos, more than dropped on germany and japan combined during wwii. Laos most heavily bombed country in history. Laos migration: 3 waves: 1972-72: upper class, lot ethnically chinese, elites, 1974-78: middle class, 1979: working class. 2010 us census: 232,130 laotians living in us. Vietnamese migration: 3 waves: 1975: 1st wave of 130,000 refugees (roughly 125,000 vietnamese) left se asia in spring. Difficult to analyze vietnam bc of ethnic chinese group / first wave did relatively well after coming to us. 1975-1979 khmer rouge 1mil cambodians were killed.
