Not always easy to translate concepts from one language to another language. Even if the words are pretty much the same, it might incite a different image in different language ie english tree vs spanish arbol. Ache (indigenous tribe) - hunter-gatherer society in paraguay prandja can mean angry in a negative context, but when hunting it can been fierce and/or courageous. Here we have one concept in the ache language which has equivalences in english with multiple concepts. Most likely old as human history - humans have always questioned who we are and make sense of the human condition. Anthropology is a way of making sense of who we are - ie the biblical theory of adam and eve is a theory of how we came about. In late 19th century, anthropology seen as the child of two conflicting eras - age of enlightenment and romanticism.
