Tooth development 2 stages baby teeth(deciduous teeth), adult teeth. Development of adult tooth push the baby tooth out. No development a[genesis] development no adult tooth impaction. Lost of the crown so chew with the root. Because they are embedded in spongy bone instead of cortical bone. Domestic animals dental disease almost only show in modern human human population. Ancestors: fruits, leaves, small parts of meat. 1st changed: added a lot of meat. 2nd: agriculture: plant based diet but very different from our ancestors. We lost a lot of bones in jaws and teeth gets smaller. Upper jaw change faster than lower jaw. Most of our jaws cortical bone, except the spongy bone that holds our teeth. Ante-mortem dental ablation cultural thing remove before death, spongy bone disappear, sign of healing, removing certain tooth at certain time. Eg. neanderthal: shanidar 1 with only one arm, teeth worn off at the side that he lost his arm severe tooth loss.
