Intergovernmental panel on climate change (ipcc) : scientific body tasked to evaluate the risk of climate change caused by human activity (established in 1988 by the. Does not carry out research, nor does it monitor climate or related phenomena. Instead, publishes special assessments of the state of knowledge of climate change every 5-6 years. Based on peer-reviewed and published scientific literature. 5 reports so far (1990, 1995, 2001, 2007, 2013/14) Working group i - concerned exclusively with the science of climate. Working group ii - focused on climate change adaptation (ie. efforts to help plants, animals, and humans cope with a changing climate) Composed of both natural and social scientists. Working group iii - concerned with the mitigation of climate change (ie. efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions) Composed of social scientists, economists, technologists, and engineers.
