Sociology: systematic study of human behavior in society. Sociological imagination: ability to see how societal patterns influence individuals and group of individuals. Sociological perspective: distinctive point of view in which you see the general in the particular. Origins of our behavior and thoughts derive from outside of us, even when seemingly personal. How content of society shapes our lives. Be consciously aware of oneself as a problem solver. Monitor , plan, and control one"s mental process (e. g. am i understanding this material or just memorizing it? ) Read and study as if you were going to teach the class. Survey : look at intro, summary, boldprint, italicized words, etc. Question : devise questions survey that you think the reading will answer. Read : one paragraph at a time.
