Land brought voting privilege, status, and opportunity for pro t: everybody needed labor because land with no labor means nothing. It started with indentured servitude but then lead to slavery in south: the english heritage. The colonies tried to separate themselves from anybody who wasn"t english at rst. English civil war creates a sense of self suf ciency it starts the idea of separation.
