PSYC 001 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: B. F. Skinner, Reinforcement, Operant Conditioning
Document Summary
Thorndike"s law of effect -- consequences of behavior will determine whether the behavior is likely to be repeated. Bf skinner (1904-1990) proposed consequences of a behavior are critical for learning (operant c. ) operant conditioning - reinforcement types: Positive reinforcement - something delivered that occurs after the behavior to increase the chance behavior will happen again. Negative reinforcement - something taken away that occurs after the behavior to increase the chance behavior will occur again. Reward - a form of pos. reinforcement. Punishment - (not neg. reinforcement) something delivered that occurs after the behavior to decrease the chance behavior will occur again.
