Readings- Chapter 1 Sections 2,3
Chapter 1 Sections 4,5,6,7
Pay attention to
-which moons have water
- which ones are gaseous/ solid
Saturn-
gaseous, less dense than water
30 years round sun
10 hours in a day
Rings on saturn not as powerful as Jupiter rings
Ethereal & material rings
Tiny particles of ice and dust
Multiple rings
Do have hurricanes and cyclones like Jupiter, but not as big
Moons
Titan- second biggest moon
Always covered by clouds
Venus- also covered by clouds
Lander found oceans of liquid methane (farts)
Covered by a thick atmosphere that protects from sun radiation & meteorite
* good for life
Enceladus
Tiny-crust of ice
Highest radiation in the solar system
Geysers
Subsurface water that is boiled from inner heat
Provides resources
Which moons belong to what planets
Uranus
Gaseous, blue
Around sun- 85 years
Itself- 17 hours
Rotates on its side
Due to a crash billions of years ago
Storms
Neptune
Discovered through Uranus
Great Dark Spot (size of Earth) disappeared in 1994
Fastest winds- 150k mph

Document Summary

4/06/18 session 2 stars and the solar systems. Rings on saturn not as powerful as jupiter rings. Do have hurricanes and cyclones like jupiter, but not as big. Lander found oceans of liquid methane (farts) Covered by a thick atmosphere that protects from sun radiation & meteorite. Subsurface water that is boiled from inner heat. Due to a crash billions of years ago. Great dark spot (size of earth) disappeared in 1994. Became a moon of neptune- has planet characteristics. Geysers of gas (nitrogen & liquid nitrogen) Asteroid belt filled with leftover asteroids from when the planets were forming. Ice mountains, charon is geologically old, bigger moon than itself. 5 moons- charon is its bigger one. Yellow stars- 10 million years -> red giant -> (dissolves) into core white dwarf. Red super giant -> supernova -> collapses into black hole or becomes pulsar (lighthouse), magnetar (magnetic field) neutron star- more compact & hot white star.
