Melody = sequence of pitches, aka tune, perceived as a unity. Disjunct motion = long song melody that moves in larger intervals. Compound meters = (duple, triple, quadruple meters) x3. Texture = perceived relationship of simultaneous musical sounds. Biphonic = lower sustains continuous pitch, other performs elaborate melody. Homophony = same sounding; melody supported by other vocal but on different pitches. Polyphony = 2 or more different melodic lines are combined. Heterophony = several instruments, slightly different melodies and rhythms.
