Document Summary

Anatomy is the study of the biological form of an organism. Physiology is the study of the biological functions an organism performs. The comparative study of organisms reveals that form and function are closely correlated. Likewise, although many organisms are very different looking, they often have organs that perform similar functions. Animal form and function are correlated at all levels. There is the production of information (dna) There is communication within the environment and, in multicellular organisms, there is communication between cells. In animals with a tissue level of organization, different tissues have different jobs. In higher organisms , tissues are organized into organs that are further specialized. All organisms regulate the cellular and internal organismal environment. Here we will talk about the regulation of temperature and whole organism chemical processes (metabolism) Organ systems maximize function by maximizing surface area. Surface area increases by : branching, folding, multiple units.
