Owners of factories wanted to maximize profits reduce costs and keep productivity high. Key: control workers & get the most effort/result from them with the least trouble & lowest wage. Argued that organization of work is not just about efficiency or technical stuff. Instead of factories and offices are places that are defined as a result of struggle between management and workers.
