Does not have to be exactly the same due to natural errors during experimentation. Needs to be consistent on average in same conditions. Keep getting the same type of answer over & over. Question of whether thing can be reliably measured. Need to have good story for why it"s a good thing to measure. *understand the difference & be able to describe an example. What we really care about it the overall health of the country. Is this a good thing to use to measure what we care about. Is there any connection to what we want to measure. Might need to measure more things in order to get at what want to. Put theory in & get way to measure it (operationalization) out. Start with a philosophical theory of happiness (i. e. bentham"s idea) The philosophical theory should give us a way to measure it (like a vending machine) Start with an idea that tells how to measure happiness.
