Strong emphasis on plot as opposed to setting/character. Repetition is in oral ft but different put in there so people could remember what they would tell. Modeled after the oral tales, but has an established form. All version of oral tales of authorian version. Can persist in a way that oral tales are not written down and the story does not change. There is a lot less need for the repetition bc people are memorizing it. Only upper class could read so they were writing it for the upper class huge shift from oral tales bc peasants mainly told oral tales.
